Kenneth V. Werenski, Director of Public Safety

Kenneth Werenski was promoted to Chief on January 27, 2021 after a 28-year career in the Grosse Pointe Shores Public Safety Department where he held ranks of Patrol Officer, Sergeant and Lieutentant. During those years of service Kenneth was the reciepient of ten department comondations, twice earning the life saving award in 2014 and 2020. Director Werenski has a Bachelors Degree of Science from Madonna University in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement, heis a certified Police Officer, Fire Fighter and licensed EMT. Kenneth and his wife Kristen live in Grosse Pointe Woods and have two sons. Brad, who is employed by General Motors and Zach who is a professional hockey player for the Colombus Blue Jackets.

The Village of Grosse Pointe Shores, A Michigan City, is located several miles north of Detroit, Michigan.  Most of the city is located within  Wayne County with the small northern portion located within Macomb County.

Grosse Pointe Shores is the smallest of the five Grosse Pointe communities occupying 1.1 square miles of land and 18.1 square miles of Lake St. Clair waters.  Grosse Pointe Shores has the longest shoreline of the Grosse Pointe communities, making it an especially attractive place to live.
